The Texas Tech Athletic Hall of Honor was established in 1961 to recognize a select group of people
who have had a special impact on Texas Tech athletics.
To be eligible for consideration, the
candidate should not only have brought distinction to the Texas Tech athletic program, but also
have displayed qualifications such as sportsmanship, character, and integrity. A former athlete
is not eligible until 10 years after his/her class has graduated. Full-time Texas Tech athletic
employees are not eligible.
Inductees are honored at the annual Hall of Honor Banquet the Friday
night before the Texas or Texas A&M home game, and again on the field at the game. Since the Hall
of Honor's initial ceremony, 120 people have been inducted.
